Does this sound familiar? You wake up, grab a cup of coffee, get the kids out the door, run a quick brush through your hair only to be shocked by the amount of hair shed!

This isn't something you've seen before, but as you hurry out the door you can't help but worry- is this related to my exhaustion, brain fog, night sweats, heck day sweats?!

This was me last year, early 2024. Plus some unexpected weight gain, but the hair loss was what got me to make a call to my MD. Before I share my story, disclaimer I'm not a doctor. Every body is different and it's important to speak to a trusted medical professional before making any changes.

I am a hairstylist of over 20 years. I've worked with 100's actually 1000's of women. Many apologizing for spontaneously drenching the salon cape in sweat and discussing what they are doing about it. As a self proclaimed naturalist, and a woman myself who is surviving the changes and I have suggestions to the symptoms.

The first thing i did was contact my MD for labs. I have hypothyroidism and unfortunately this causes hair loss as well. The second was contact my functional doctor for more labs. If you have a specialist, you may not need part 2 however after my western medical doctor gave me basic results I wanted to dig deeper. I prefer to take the route of treating the specific causes rather than the symptoms.

Not only were my sex hormones were enroute to perimenopause so everything I was experiencing was normal. We discovered I had Hashimotos. There was nothing 'normal' about the way I felt, or the hair in my brush. My functional doctor Roeshan Shadravan PhD ran more tests and found I could use a boost in my gut health, liver and kidney health. She put together a plan that has me feeling like myself again.

I cut out all gluten and nightshades. She warned me that I wouldn't feel relief overnight. It took mote than 3 months to regain energy and lose the gluten belly and all its inflammation.

I didn't want to wait for my hair to catch up to my hormones. When doing cleanses or supplementing, hair, skin, and nails is the last place to take in the nutrition. I decided to take the matters of hair thinning into my own hands and expertise.

I started with a deep cleansing Keravive treatment. This is a hydrafacial for your scalp. It removes all the clogged build up from the hair follicles and infuses vitamins to promote a healthy scalp.

I also started taking hair vitamins. Goldilocks is the haircare line I care designed for fine hair and extensions. It doesn't upset my stomach and is enriched with natural herbs and vitamins.

I kept my hair extensions in so that it wasn't visible that my hair had thinned. I moved them up a week sooner to keep things safe as I was still nervous about hair shed

All in all, it took 3 months before I felt restored back to my youthful, vibrant self I was used to! If you're feeling the changes take over know that you are not alone in this journey and you don't have to feel this way! We have solutions for you and offer caring friendly support to help you through.
